Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Specialist Level II

The research paper "Comparing Single-Use Pre-Filled Saline Syringes with the Traditional Method (Saline Bottle + Syringe + Needle) in Terms of Safety, Convenience, Cost-Effectiveness, and Productivity" was published by Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc, CKII, based on international clinical evidence and guidelines issued by Vietnam's Ministry of Health. The paper presents a comprehensive analysis demonstrating the clear advantages of pre-filled syringes (PFS) over the traditional manual compounding technique.
Objective: To provide scientific evidence from clinical studies (RCTs, meta-analyses) and synthesized guidelines from reputable health organizations (WHO, CDC, INS, Vietnam's Ministry of Health) comparing the effectiveness of pre-filled saline syringes (PFS) versus the traditional manual compounding method.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of multicenter clinical data and randomized controlled trials from 2013 to 2025 (including studies by Ceylan, Saliba, Benhamou, and others), focusing on the following criteria: infection rates, catheter failure, procedure time, and healthcare cost-effectiveness.
Results:

The manual method results in solution wastage ranging from 57% to 86% (atropine, epinephrine, etc.), whereas wastage with PFS is 0%. Economic analysis demonstrates that PFS saves healthcare systems millions of USD through reduced medication errors and infections.
Conclusion: Single-use pre-filled saline syringes offer comprehensive benefits and are recommended by leading organizations such as INS, CDC, and WHO as a complete replacement for drawing solution from shared multi-dose vials/bottles. In Vietnam, the transition to PFS should be prioritized in key departments such as ICU, Emergency, Pediatrics, and Oncology.
Pre-filled saline syringes (PFS), catheter flushing, catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI/CLABSI), injection safety, nursing workflow optimization.
Backed by solid real-world medical evidence, the shift toward single-dose pre-filled systems is becoming an essential requirement for infection control in modern hospitals. Responding to this pressing need within Vietnam's healthcare system, WEMBLEY MEDICAL is proud to be the pioneering manufacturer of WEMSYIN Pre-filled Saline Flush Syringes (PFS) in Vietnam.
The product is used to flush peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs), peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), central venous catheters (CVCs), and subcutaneous infusion ports, maintaining line integrity and preventing occlusion.
WEMSYIN Pre-filled Saline Syringes offer a safe, convenient, time-saving solution that enhances the efficiency of maintaining IV lines and catheter care in hospitals and clinics.
Researched and designed by WEMBLEY MEDICAL, the product is manufactured on automated production lines within a Class 100,000 cleanroom and controlled by an internationally recognized quality management system, offering the following outstanding advantages:
The product is manufactured on next-generation automated production lines within a certified cleanroom, strictly controlled by internationally recognized certification systems: ISO 13485:2016, GMP, and CE Marking.
Applying advanced steam sterilization and ETO (Ethylene Oxide) sterilization technologies, WEMBLEY MEDICAL offers two product lines to flexibly meet clinical requirements:

Clinical Recommendation: The product is especially suitable and recommended as a priority choice for Intensive Care Units (ICU), Emergency Departments, Oncology, Neonatal/Pediatric units, and hemodialysis centers.

WEMSYIN Pre-filled Saline Flush Syringe is a pre-filled syringe used to flush in-situ peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs), peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), central venous catheters (CVCs), and implanted venous access ports to maintain integrity and prevent blockages. The saline solution in the syringe helps to clear blood, medication residue, or debris from the tubing. This process helps prevent clots, improves flow, and reduces the risk of infection.
