WEMBLEY MEDICAL Proudly Accompanies the Ministry of Health at the Conference Summarizing the National Laboratory Quality Management Project 2016 - 2025

On September 29, 2025, at The Adora Grand View Convention Center (Ho Chi Minh City), the Department of Medical Services Administration - Ministry of Health held the Conference to Summarize the Project “Enhancing the Capacity of the Medical Laboratory Quality Management System 2016 - 2025” and implement the interconnection of laboratory test results. This was a significant milestone marking the successful completion of a 10-year journey with many remarkable achievements.

The conference gathered over 600 delegates, including leaders of the Ministry of Health, departments and agencies under the Ministry, representatives from the Department of Military Medicine – Ministry of National Defense, Department of Health - Ministry of Public Security, the U.S. CDC Office in Vietnam, leaders of provincial Departments of Health, central hospitals, universities of Medicine and Pharmacy, general hospitals, medical centers, professional associations, as well as experts and media agencies.

The conference comprehensively reviewed the implementation and outcomes of the project (pursuant to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 316/QĐ-TTg), highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned, while also proposing solutions, policy recommendations, and future development directions for Vietnam’s laboratory quality management system.

In his keynote speech, PhD. Dr. Ha Anh Duc - Director General of the Department of Medical Services Administration, Ministry of Health - commended the significant results achieved over the past decade, emphasizing the importance of standardization, interconnection, and digitalization in the laboratory quality management system. He affirmed that these are key priorities to continuously improve the quality of diagnostics, treatment, and healthcare services amid international integration and digital transformation.

Ms. Lindsay Kim - Acting Country Director and Director of the Global Health Security Program, U.S. CDC Vietnam, praised Vietnam’s recent progress in establishing policies, regulations, and guidance to support laboratories. She highlighted the Ministry of Health’s clear vision and commitment to building a national laboratory network that meets both domestic and international standards.

The U.S. CDC reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting Vietnam in strengthening its laboratory systems for the shared goal of advancing public health capacity and global health quality.

The conference also discussed the implementation of laboratory test result interconnection, synchronized with the rollout of electronic medical records (EMR), and gathered feedback on the draft circular concerning laboratory test categories, diagnostic services, and the conditions for shared use of test results across medical facilities under the national health insurance system.

Key digital transformation directions were also presented, focusing on: Applying a unified coding system for laboratory and diagnostic data, Implementing electronic tools for laboratory quality assessment, Promoting interoperability between test results and electronic medical records.
