On October 25th, Emily Hamblin, the British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, announced a £75,000 grant to help Ho Chi Minh City develop into a regional healthcare innovation center for ASEAN. The collaboration will focus on disease surveillance, medical training, clinical research and development, and digital transformation. Liverpool and Ho Chi Minh City are also exploring a twinning model in healthcare.
This initiative emphasizes improving medical training quality and supporting Ho Chi Minh City's healthcare workforce. It also aims to expand research on disease patterns and public health. Healthcare professionals from Ho Chi Minh City will have the opportunity to participate in training programs in the United Kingdom.
Emily Hamblin emphasized that healthcare has been a crucial aspect of the 50-year friendship between the UK and Vietnam. Major British companies and organizations, like AstraZeneca, are actively supporting various healthcare projects in Ho Chi Minh City, including the Healthcare Innovation and Science Center Project.
The aim is to implement innovative solutions that bring positive changes for patients. This initiative also helps Ho Chi Minh City build an advanced healthcare system using high technology and develop into a regional healthcare hub for ASEAN, in accordance with Resolution 31 of the Politburo.
